3 great Christmas lights apps exclusively for Apple TV
We’ve told you about virtual fireplaces and we’ve told you about virtual snow. What’s left for the Christmas holidays, then, except for lights? I recall a time when coworkers would line their monitors with Macintosh Christmas light programs (we called them programs then), and you can do the same with your Apple TV.

And here’s your proof. Christmas HD Pro features a few different video options, one of which is almost exactly like those Christmas light Mac apps of yore.
You wouldn’t want that image to be your desktop wallpaper, of course, but the colorful, festive design works pretty well on your widescreen TV. Whether it’s in the background as you open gifts or as you entertain family and friends, it’ll help make the mood merry and bright. There are a few other holiday-themed images (with audio) that I actually liked better, but this one makes the best use of lights.

Again, not an app dedicated to Christmas lights, but one that incorporates Christmas lights into one of five video loops.
The effect is not entirely unlike your built-in Macintosh screen saver, albeit with tiny Christmas tree lights that will thankfully never burn out. And honestly, you should check this app out for the other video loops included, a couple of which are like ugly Christmas sweaters on acid. Have a very trippy Christmas.

Snow Storm Live

We close out our list with a snowstorm app. But do you know what? Snow looks great when it’s following over Christmas lights. Or angry cats in Santa hats. However you celebrate.
A better, jollier example of Christmas lights usage can be seen in the lead image above.
In addition to letting you choose your background, Snow Storm Live gives you plenty of control over the snow: amount, size, speed, direction, etc. Baby, it’s cold outside! And possibly inside, too, depending upon the background you select.
