Get Moby’s latest album…on Apple TV
Musician, author, and modern renaissance man Moby will release a new album of ambient electronic music—Long Ambients 2—later this month. If you’d rather not wait for the wider digital release, you can hear it now through the Calm meditation and sleep app on your Apple TV.
Long Ambients 2 has been available exclusively to subscribers of the Calm Meditation and Sleep Stories app since its release back on World Sleep Day in mid-March. The follow-up to Moby’s 2016 album Long Ambients 1: Calm. Sleep., this new album features six tracks with titles ranging from “LA12” to “LA17,” each of which clocks in at about 37 minutes. They’re all recorded to provide soothing background ambiance to help you drift off to sleep, making them a perfect match for Calm.
“I originally made these songs for myself because I couldn’t find this type of music anywhere,” said Moby via the Calm blog. “Long Ambients 2 was designed to help me sleep and to help other people find calm and maybe get a good night’s sleep. I hope to share it with other people who have sleep issues or battle anxiety or have a hard time calming themselves down.”
Declared “2017 App of the Year” and a “Best of 2018 Award Winner” by Apple, Calm helps users achieve better sleep, lower stress, and reduced anxiety through guided meditations, Sleep Stories, breathing programs, stretching exercises, and relaxing music. The app includes hundreds of programs for beginning to advanced users, with guided meditation sessions ranging from 3 to 25 minutes in length. When you’re not in the mood for Moby, for example, Sleep Stories will lull you to sleep with bedtime narrations from celebrities such as Matthew McConaughey, Stephen Fry, and Bob Ross.
The new Moby tracks are available in Calm’s music section, which—as mentioned above—is available only through Calm Premium. Subscriptions start at $12.99/month or $69.99/year, although a lifetime subscription option for $299.99 is also available. Billing starts after a free 7-day trial.
