Pixel Clock – Retro Style is a very cool Apple TV clock
Typically, we’re presented with two options when it comes to displaying the time: a combination of hands and dashes with analog clocks or simple numbers with digital clocks. If you’re looking for something a little more conversational, developer TAO WU may have just the thing.
Pixel Clock – Retro Style mimics the display of an old monochrome monitor to keep the time on your Apple TV, iOS device, or (of course) Apple Watch. As you can tell from the screen captures, however, it doesn’t just write the text on a flat background based on the time of day. Rather, junk text is displayed across the whole screen but dimmed to the point where it’s barely discernible. The time of day is displayed much brighter, making it easy to read. The effect is really pretty cool.
Six font colors are available in six different typefaces which can be displayed against six different screen colors. Your screen customization can also be synced across all your devices that share the same Apple ID. Other features more relevant to iOS and tvOS include:
- Support for portrait and landscape orientations supported
- Touch feedback compatibility
If you tried Pixel Clock before and had a hard time with the display, it has just been updated with improved icon and font colors.
Pixel Clock – Retro Style is available now for $0.99 in the App Store.
