What’s new for Apple TV, March 7th, 2019

Unless you’re into gladiators or preschool entertainment, the best content this week is in the updated Apple TV Apps. Nat Geo TV, NCAA March Madness and DayView – Personal Dashboard all get some significant new features and enhancements, while AT&T WatchTV and Tennis Channel simply try to get better.

Also note that Gladiator: Blades of Fury arrived a month earlier than expected.

Prices provided below are accurate at press time. Free downloads are for the app only and may require a subscription or in-app purchases for full functionality.

New Apple TV Apps:

  • Fresh UK (free) – The freshest hits for the UK…whatever those may be.
  • Gladiator: Blades of Fury (free) – Because blades of serenity are not as easy to fight with. Check out our full coverage for more on this combat action fighting game which released quite early.
  • Pocket-Preschool (free) – Videos from Baby Joy Joy and FuntasticTV, featuring nursery rhymes and songs such as “ABC Song,” “Pop Goes the Weasel,” “The Finger Family,” and “Johny Johny Yes Papa.”
  • Lullaby Videos for Kids (free) – “Lullaby [videos] your kids will love.” But hopefully not so much that they don’t fall asleep.

Updated Apple TV Apps:

  • AT&T WatchTV (free) – User Interface enhancements and performance improvements for this live TV streaming app. Will they be enough to raise it above its current 1.5 star user rating?
  • Tennis Channel (free) – Your home for tennis gets UI updates, navigation improvements, and multiple bug fixes.
  • Nat Geo TV: Live and On Demand (free) – Having just recently launched an improved tvOS experience, Nat Geo TV has already rolled out additional changes. There’s now a program countdown clock that allows users to get into the stream before the show starts!
  • NCAA March Madness (free) – Updated ahead of the 2019 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship, a new Picks feature allows you to follow along with your bracket on the big screen.
  • DayView – Personal Dashboard (free) – This excellent, widget-based, info-at-a-glace app has been updated with new widgets (Twitter Search and Twitter Timeline) and other new and improved features.
  • Cars Road Maze – Game for Kids (free) – “If your kid likes mazes and cars, this app is [a] good choice.” I guess that makes sense. Some of the mazes look pretty intense, however.
