What’s new for Apple TV, August 2nd, 2018
There’s not much in regard to new apps this week, but there are some important updates to grab. The official NFL app is ready for tonight’s preseason opener, Emoji Charades gets some new categories, and more.
Prices provided below are accurate at press time. Free downloads are for the app only and may require a subscription or in-app purchases for full functionality.
New Apple TV Apps:
- DHF WorkFit (free) – If you’ve set up a WorkFit vibrational training kiosk in your office, make sure you’ve also got this Apple TV app for easy employee workout integration.
- Shop ‘n Learn Smart Checkout (free) – Pairs with the Little Tikes Shop ‘n Learn Smart Checkout toy. You know, so kids can watch their vegetables sing and dance before they pretend to eat them.
Updated Apple TV Apps:
- Yoga International (free) – Yoga classes, challenges, in-depth workshops, guided meditations, tutorials, and features, with new content added each day.
- Xtreme Slots (free) – New slot: Frankenstein. Seems like a logical match.
- Twitchy – Watch Streams on TV (free) – Because watching people play games is better on your TV than on your phone. Of course, I’d also argue that playing games is better than watching people play games, but I’m what kids today would call an “old.”
- Charming Runes (free) – Something to do when you’re done watching Twitchy. This “magical block-breaking game” currently has a 4.5 rating in the App Store.
- Family Trivia – Jeopardy Edition (free) – “Family” because it has a Bible category. “Trivia” because it’s a trivia game. “Jeopardy Edition” because it’s a knock-off of Jeopardy. Here, though, you can select your own questions and assign their point value.
- NFL (free) – The 2018 NFL preseason kicks off tonight with the annual Pro Football Hall of Fame Game. Make sure you’re ready by updating the official NFL app. I’d say “Go Hawks!” but I’m a realist with realistic expectations.
- Papa John’s Pizza (free) – App updates may be able to fix bugs, but they unfortunately can’t fix flavor.
- Emoji Charades ($5.99) – One of the better party games available for Apple TV, Emoji Charades is just what the title implies. This update add four new trivia packs: Animals, Animated Movies, Comic Book Characters and ’90s & ’00s Kids’ TV Shows.
