What’s new for Apple TV, March 15th, 2018

This past week was full of great new apps and updates to some old favorites. If you want to try something new, check out Fifty Shades of Nature or go on a Runventure, For updates, we’ve got new ways to watch the March Madness action, view/purchase art and stream your favorite shows. Also, Hungry Shark Evolution gets a new shark, and this one’s hungry, too.

New Apple TV Apps:

  • Runventure – You can say it’s like Super Mario Run on your Apple TV, or you can say it’s like Pitfall on your Apple TV. What matters is that it’s on your Apple TV, and it looks great.
  • Notes for TV – It’s like Notes, but for your Apple TV, you see. Doesn’t push with Apple Notes, unfortunately, but still a handy way to keep info around if you’re one of those “always on” Apple TV users.
  • Nucleus.TV (for TV) – “…award-winning medical animations created to help educate patients on complicated diseases and conditions, surgical and clinical procedures, and diagnostics.” You know, so you can pretend you’re somehow smarter than your doctors.
  • Fifty Shades of Nature – I have neither seen or read 50 Shades of Gray, but I’m still comfortable saying this screensaver is more pleasant to watch. Fire, fireworks, lights, stream and forest scenes, but no Red Room (that joke courtesy of my wife).
  • Dreamchaser On Demand – Speaking of nature, bring its healing power to your living room via Apple TV.

Updated Apple TV Apps:

  • NCAA March Madness Live – The official app of the 2018 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament now features an in-game live switcher and a free three-hour preview.
  • Plex – “Organize, access, and stream your media on any device, anytime, and anywhere.” The update comes with many fixes.
  • Sky Gamblers – Infinite Jets – If you’ve been playing this game on your Apple TV 4K, you’ll be pleased to know this update fixes the rendering issue. Check our review for game details.
  • Loupe – Visual Art Experience – View and buy artwork from artists around the world. Prints ordered on Apple TV are prepared to order in three sizes on Hahnemühle Premium Paper, or you can purchase original art by select Loupe artists from loupeart.com.
  • Hungry Shark Evolution – Introducing Leo, a dynoshark with the ability to smash through walls. Just when you thought it was safe to go back into a well-constructed building that’s entirely up to code.
