What’s new for Apple TV, May 17th, 2018

Free movies, free slots, free racing and free behemoth knights came to Apple TV this week. How free depends upon your level of involvement. Those willing to pay upfront can get tvOS access to their Online Notes, and maybe even master some new high-speed kite aerobatics. Take a look below.

New Apple TV Apps:

  • Ring of Honor (free) – Kind of a good idea if you’re a fan of ROH Wrestling. In addition to providing episode and PPV streams, this app provides news, content, trivia, polls, and pick-ems that allow you to earn points for instant rewards at
  • Diggerman (free) – Huge Angry Mole kidnaps Diggerman’s sweetheart, and he needs your help to save her. Will you dig with him? Five worlds of traditional arcade action.
  • Online Notes ($0.99) – Better than sticking Post-It Notes on your TV screen. You only get five notes, but they can contain up to 32,000 characters. Syncs with the iOS and macOS versions.
  • FilmRise (free) – TV shows, movies, documentaries, kids shows, world cinema and much more, all free. No subscription required.
  • Stunt Kite Masters ($3.99) – It’s not enough to just get your kite in the air anymore. Master precision flying, learn high-speed aerobatics, and even destroy some remote-controlled airplanes. Pretty nice looking game, really.

Updated Apple TV Apps:

  • Xtreme Vegas (free) – Did you hear that widespread gambling is perfectly okay now? Get your practice in with this old-style Vegas slots app. Golden Dragon has just been added.
  • Warhammer 40,000: Freeblade (free) – The latest update to this action game comes brings the ancient Questoris knight Magaera, a relentless behemoth for you to strike fear into the hearts of the Imperium’s enemies.
  • Shadowgun Legends (free) – Mainly a bug-fix update, but it fixes many. This is regarded as one of the best first-person shooters available for Apple TV, so use this as an opportunity to check it out.
  • Gaia: Streaming Consciousness (free) – The world’s best teachers and luminaries to guide you on your path with yoga, meditation, spiritual growth and alternative perspectives. Thousands of videos available to those willing to pay for them.
  • Real Racing 3 (free) – EA celebrates 70 years of Porsche by adding the 2018 Porsche 911 RSR, 1970 Porsche 917, and 1998 Porsche 911 GT1 to this racing game. Over 200 cars and 18 tracks in real-world locations.
