What’s new for Apple TV, May 31st, 2018

This week’s list of new and updated Apple TV apps is chock full of content to help you get toned, learn some new recipes, share photos, find motivation and become a spelling champion. If your goals are more virtual in nature, you can always choose to play soccer with the Minions or watch people beat each other up, I suppose.

Prices provided below are accurate at press time. Free downloads are for the app only and may require a subscription or in-app purchases for full functionality.

New Apple TV Apps

  • Magellanic 2 (free) – Did you miss Magellanic 1? Never mind about that. Just check out this “nearly impossible” single-player or co-op arcade game that harks back to the original Mario Bros. Full MFi controller support.
  • BattleZone TV (free) – I’ll admit I was disappointed to see this isn’t dedicated to the arcade game of the same name, but fans of MMA will find plenty to watch with this new channel.
  • Spell B (free) – “Unparalleled.” That’s the word that took me down in the sixth-grade spelling bee. If only I had the Spell B spelling app for Apple TV I could’ve advanced to represent Montgomery Elementary in the city tournament!
  • Quote – Inspiration (free) – If you’ve replaced your motivational posters of mountain climbers and dangling cats with a modern electronic display system, this app can bring back the inspirational quotes.

Updated Apple TV Apps

  • WWDC (free) – We already told you about Apple’s app to help you follow along with WWDC whether you’re in San Jose or at home, but here’s a reminder in case you missed it.
  • Daily Burn Trainer Workouts (free) – Expertly led audio and video workouts to help you lose weight or get toned. Set goals, track progress, and stay motivated.
  • Minion Rush (free) – Over 860 million players can now participate in a soccer tournament…of sorts.
  • EasyPhoto Pro – For Google Photos, Flickr & 500px ($1.99) – Connects your accounts to your Apple TV for large screen photo viewing.
  • Panna: Video Recipes & Classes (free) – The “world’s best chefs” provide over 600 step-by-step video recipes and dozens of online cooking classes.
  • Shadowgun Legends (free) – A major update to what calls “…the App Store’s definitive FPS.” Too many improvements to list here, but here are few keywords/phrases for you: co-op, voice chat, Alco-Traz Jail, Horus, music emotes, and new legendary armor sets.
