What’s new for Apple TV, September 27th, 2018

There are some great new Apple TV games to check out this week, along with big updates to a couple you’re hopefully already playing. Beyond that, we’ve got Martha Stewart, Asana Rebel, free books for kids, the NBA, and plenty more.

Prices provided below are accurate at press time. Free downloads are for the app only and may require a subscription or in-app purchases for full functionality.

New Apple TV Apps:

  • Hovercraft: Battle Arena (free) – Build your hovercraft all LEGO style, then take it into the PvP arena for some multiplayer, brick-busting action. Check out our earlier coverage for more details.
  • Reader Rabbit: Jumpsmarter ($2.99) – An Apple TV-exclusive platformer for kids. “Go on an amazing adventure through the happy forest, the big village, and the mushroom cave…” No in-app purchases, and it supports MFi controllers.
  • AQeye (free) – Displays the state of various pollutants in your area (including effects from wildfires). Great for those with respiratory issues or those looking for a rather depressing reason to never go outside again.
  • Martha Stewart TV (free) – “Watch and learn something new every day from the original lifestyle expert, Martha Stewart.” I want to tell a stock trading joke her, but I’m afraid that’ll make me look old.
  • Evie: A Space Adventure (free) – Tap to navigate Evie through 12 levels of Flappy Bird-style challenges.

Updated Apple TV Apps:

  • Blades of Chaos (free) – “The best multiplayer hack ‘n‘ slash action arena game for Apple TV” has been updated with daily quests, boosters, and a new way to purchase weapons and jewelry.
  • Asana Rebel: Yoga and Fitness (free) – The immensely popular yoga-inspired fitness app has updated with auto sign-in and an improved Today experience.
  • Hyperforma ($4.99) – Having won numerous mobile game awards, Hyperforma has now been updated five new chapters, MFi controller support, new bosses and mechanics, and plenty more. Seriously…check this one out.
  • Epic! (free) – A free digital library for kids. Get access to 25,000 books and learning videos, now available in 4K.
  • NBA Official App (free) – The NBA preseason starts tomorrow, so it’s time to consider subscribing to the new NBA League Pass. This app does other things, but that’s their focus right now.
