64GB Apple TV 4K back ordered 4-5 weeks worldwide
The Apple TV 4K with 64GB of storage is back ordered worldwide four to five weeks into mid-January, according to a check by BESTAppleTV.com of Apple’s online store in every country.
Orders placed today in the U.S. on the 64GB version – retailing for $199.00 – may not be delivered until early-to-mid January. The same shipping conditions apply to the 126 countries and regions with either online Apple sales or purchases through retail locations.
The reason for the worldwide delay is unknown. An Apple spokesperson did not respond to repeated attempts for comment.
Availability of the high-end model through third-party retailers in America is sparse, following an online search of Target, Best Buy, Costco, and Walmart. For instance, a search of Best Buy showed the Apple TV 4K 64GB version “unavailable” in five major U.S. cities – New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, and Miami – for shipping, but currently available by December 8th at some brick-and-mortar locations for pickup.
32 GB models in those same locations showed immediate pickup at most retail stores with shipments available shortly after December 6th.
The 32GB version, at $179, is available with no delay at most retail stores for pickup in the U.S., Canada, Australia, Great Britain, France, and Germany. Online orders of the low-end model in the U.S. are currently being quoted for delivery around December 6th.
