AAF football app now available on Apple TV

Are you watching the Alliance of American Football? The upstart professional football league is now halfway through its inaugural season, leaving five more weeks before the postseason. The AAF aims to bring fans quality football during the NFL’s offseason, but it also “… exists in part because it is on the cutting edge of innovation, a landscape of incomparable analytics, progressive algorithms, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.”

Does that sound like math? Baseball is the “math” sport, right? Maybe, but one of the more intriguing things I saw in week one of AAF action as the promo for the Alliance of American Football app. More than just a way to get scores and stats, the app allows users to spot trends in play calling, identify offensive/defensive mismatches, and predict the next play. Even cooler, plays are presented by live-action avatars that move around the field as the players do in near-zero latency.

The Alliance’s integrated fantasy game will revolutionize the way you watch sports. The Alliance app offers real-time animation of each game paired with deep preCast analytics and interactive features. While the action happens, you can watch players huddle up, go into formation, run plays, following player movement as the plays happen, tracking the ball and watching the result of the play and scoring of your prediction, providing fans with real-time data previously available only to team coaching staffs.

Much better than watching little lines extend across a field and reading about the play a couple of minutes after it happened, right?

Trouble is, the app was not tvOS compatible at launch. With a recent update, however, the Alliance of American Football app is finally available for Apple TV. The app is free in the app store, allowing fans to follow along with the action both in- and out-of-market if they don’t have access to the NFL Network, CBS Sports Network or B/R Live.
