Apple adds BBC Film exec to worldwide programming team

Apple is adding to its television production team outside the U.S. with the hire of former BBC Films chief Joe Oppenheimer (shown above) to find international programming.

Oppenheimer is joining the company in London as a creative executive on the international creative development team, reporting to European creative director Jay Hunt who is the former Channel 4 programming boss who joined Apple in January. He will work with Hunt to source programming internationally.

Oppenheimer spent almost 20 years at BBC Films where he oversaw more than 50 projects.

Deadline Hollywood reports Hunt is about to announce the London-based teams first production deal “looking for big ideas with A-list talent that will appeal to a global audience.”
