Apple adds TV app support in Brazil & Mexico
With the final release of tvOS 11.3, Apple has added its TV app on Apple TV in Brazil and Mexico, Latin America’s two largest markets.
Both countries join Apple TV app users in the U.S., Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Norway, Sweden and the U.K. who already have access to the app and its integration of local content.
Brazilians will also now have Siri support on Apple TV 4K and the fourth-generation Apple TV, making it possible to search for and access movies, shows, songs, apps and more, using voice commands.
The TV app is a central hub for movie and TV show content. It shows media content from iTunes, your library of iTunes purchases, and many – but not all – of your subscription services and apps. In the US, it is supported by services such as HBO Go, HBO Now, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Starz, CBS, CNN, while in the UK partners include Amazon Prime Video, BBC, ITV, and Channel 5.
What is not known at this time is exactly how much content will be available, what broadcasters and content providers will be linked to the TV app in those markets, and whether news and sports content – available in many other countries with TV app access – will also be part of the mix.
