Free stream of Hulu’s ‘Castle Rock’ premieres on TV App

The premiere episode of Castle Rock, the Stephen King-inspired original series from J.J. Abrams, is available now for free exclusively to U.S. users on the Apple TV App with no Hulu subscription required.

The series premiere is now available on the Apple TV App exclusively for two weeks. It’s the first time any network or streaming service is debuting an episode on the Apple TV App in front of any paywalls, according to Apple.

Hulu is using the exclusive deal in the hopes that the freebie first episode will spur people to sign up for Hulu to watch the rest of the 10-episode anthology series.

Hulu with Live TV launched in May 2016 and is jointly owned by Fox, Disney/ABC, Comcast/NBC Universal and Time Warner. The app is available now for free in the App Store, with Live TV subscriptions starting at $39.99/month.
