Apple releases third public beta of tvOS 12.2

Apple seeded Wednesday the third beta of tvOS 12 to the public with the ability to request the playing of multiple videos on independent Apple TV devices through iOS 12.2.

The release – for fourth and fifth generation Apple TV devices – came one day after the developer beta release of tvOS 12.

Paired with the third public betas release of iOS 12.2 that also happened Wednesday, tvOS 12.2 allows users to ask Siri to play separate music, movies, and TV shows on multiple Apple TV from an iOS device. Users can ask Siri to play a movie in one room, while music or a TV show plays elsewhere.

Additional but minor updates are also part of the beta. The updates are expected to remain in beta until mid-March before Apple’s March 25th media event, focusing on Apple TV and it’s expected streaming service announcement.

tvOS 12.2 can be downloaded manually by going to the ‘Settings’ app on Apple TV, navigating to ‘System’, then to ‘Software Updates’, followed by selecting “Get Public Beta Updates.”
