Apple TV app adds expected news section
Apple further expanded its TV application on Apple TV Thursday with the addition of news content from sources like CNN, Fox News, and CBS News.
While not as comprehensive as the selection of sports programming, the news section lets users have instant access to on-demand and live content from CBS News, CNN, Fox News, Cheddar, CNBC, and Bloomberg through their associated apps.
If one of the apps is not already installed on Apple TV, tvOS will prompt users to install it directly from the App Store. The TV app uses the Single Sign-On login to log into each of the news apps, making it a one-step process to set up multiple different news sources.
If you haven’t installed a particular news app, the TV app will prompt you to add it.
The News section in the TV application is accessible under the main ‘Watch Now’ section. The content is viewable on Apple TV devices running tvOS 11.2.5 or newer.
The live programming additions come nearly a year and a half after Apple originally launched its TV app, which aggregates TV and movies from multiple apps into one unified search platform.
Apple originally demonstrated the addition of news content to the TV app back in September when it unveiled the Apple TV 4K. the addition of live sports to the app launched last November.
