Apple TV app now listing PlayStation Vue content
Sony’s live TV streaming service PlayStation Vue has added support for Apple’s TV app on fourth and fifth-generation Apple TV devices, with the addition occurring last Friday morning.
PS Vue subscribers can now see listings of TV shows, live sports, and movies in their Up Next list, both live and on-demand. Selecting that content will then take viewers directly to that content within the PS Vue app on their Apple TV.
PlayStation Vue content in the U.S. TV app joins other apps including Prime Video, ESPN, HBO GO, HBO NOW, Hulu, Netflix, and YouTube, to name a few.
While the addition of PS Vue to the TV app is important from the perspective of having more local network affiliate content now visible and accessible, PS Vue has the fewest number of local stations of any live streaming service with 209. That falls far below its competing services like Hulu with Live TV with 627 – the most of any such service – and YouTube TV with 475.
The addition of PlayStation Vue is a first among live streaming services, including. DirecTV Now, Sling TV, Hulu with Live TV, Fubo TV, and YouTube TV are currently not supported in the TV app.
