Best Buy counters Prime Day with three Apple TV discounts
Best Buy is offering its own discounts on Apple TV devices to counter Amazon Prime Day, something seldom seen on the Apple streaming device. The savings aren’t significant and some are part of a bundle, but they’re savings nonetheless…provided you’re also into tvOS gaming.
What makes this Best Buy discount even more interesting is that Amazon isn’t doing anything similar, probably because it would rather play up its own streaming media device – Fire TV – with various price cuts from $20 to $35.
Apple TV 4K discounts
Both the 32 and 64GB Apple TV 4K models are available in discounted bundles only with the SteelSeries Nimbus wireless controller. You may think you don’t need the controller, and you may be right. But if you have any iOS games that are also tvOS compatible, you’ll be able to play them directly on your Apple TV without having to repurchase them. Those that are MFi compatible are much better to play with a gamepad than with the Siri Remote, and the SteelSeries Nimbus is the best tvOS-compatible wireless controller on the market. Check our review to learn why.
All that said, here are the deals:
- Apple TV 4K 32GB (Latest Model) with SteelSeries Nimbus Wireless Controller – $194.98 (normally $229.98)
- Apple TV 4K 64GB (Latest Model) with SteelSeries Nimbus Wireless Controller – $224.98 (normally $249.98)
Apple TV 4th Gen discount
If you have no need for 4K TV support and precise gaming control, the Apple TV 4th Gen will do just fine. Best Buy is discounting the 32GB model and only by $10, but it comes with a full month of Sling TV for free. Note that there’s also a delivery delay on this model; whereas the 4K models can be at your house within a couple days, shipping for the 4th Gen model will take about a week.
- Apple TV 32GB (4th Generation) – $139.99 (regularly $149.99)
