UPDATE: Black Friday Apple TV deals few and far between

The Apple TV and Apple TV 4K have been no-shows from all of the major Black Friday 2017 deals we have seen. Apple showed it’s cards early Friday morning with no discount on the streaming media player the tech-giant calls “the blockbuster gift of the year,”

Regional retailer Meijer looks to have the only offer on both models, but there’s a catch. It is offering a $50 Meijer gift card with the purchase of either model, but you can only use the $50 discount on “your next shopping trip”.

The Meijer offer is for Thanksgiving day only, until supplies last, and there’s no word if these discounts will be in-store only or if online shoppers will be able to get in on the deals as well.

Last year, Apple had some Black Friday promotions, but it was lackluster at best. Apple discounted the Apple TV $25 in November 2016. In 2015, they had no discounts and the tech-giants retail stores were not even open.

Apple TV no-show on Amazon continues

We’ve written extensively about the soap opera battle between Apple and Amazon. Part of that is related to Amazon refusing to sell the Apple TV in its online store since 2015.

Despite it briefly (very briefly) returning in October and rumors it would be back when Apple Prime TV debuts sometime soon on the Apple TV AppStore, it is nowhere to be seen this Black Friday.

Another good deal…The DirecTV Now offer

With essentially no discounts on Apple TVs, the DirecTV Now offer is a good one.

As we reported November 17th, the live streaming service DirecTV Now is giving away a free 32Gb version of the Apple TV 4K set-top box with a new, four-month prepaid subscription through the end of the year. Effectively, the offer is $140 for live TV and an Apple TV 4K…a $40 discount and no tax.
