CuriosityStream joins YouTube TV as $3 addition

The science, technology and nature channel CuriosityStream has joined YouTube TV with subscribers able to add it as a premium channel for an additional $3 per month.

Launched by Discovery Communications founder John Hendricks, CuriosityStream is an ad-free, streaming and on-demand service.

“We are thrilled to partner with YouTube TV to bring CuriosityStream’s incredible library of original and premier titles to the…lineup of traditional broadcast and cable networks and premium channels,” said Clint Stinchcomb, president and CEO of CuriosityStream, in a statement. “YouTube TV is proving that traditional linear television and digital channels can be offered to the consumer seamlessly and successfully. This is the next evolution.”

YouTube TV launched in February of this year as an Apple TV app, offering more than 60 networks and a cloud DVR for $40 a month. CuriosityStream is among the premium channels YouTube TV offers, along with Showtime and Fox Soccer Plus.

CuriosityStream has been slowly adding its channel to various other streaming services as of late, including Sling TV and various other cable and satellite services.

CuriosityStream has been available as a standalone, subscription-based app on Apple TV since 2015, priced at $2.99 per month or $29.99 per year for standard definition streaming, and $5.99 per month or $59.99 per year for high definition streaming.
