Fox Nation sets Nov. 27 launch date with Apple TV app
In a first-of-its-kind test for a fee-based cable news channel, Fox News announced Wednesday its upcoming subscription streaming service, Fox Nation, will launch on November 27. BESTApple TV has learned it will be available at launch through a standalone Apple TV app.
The service will cost $5.99 per month or $64.99 per year.
A company spokesperson confirmed the app will be available a few days before launch for Apple TV fourth-generation devices and higher, that customers can subscribe either via the app or via the web, and that Apple users will be able to pay for their subscription using their Apple ID.
Fox Nation is also offering a presale on Sunday for consumers to become ‘founding members’ of the service by purchasing limited edition packages ahead of the launch. The founding member packages range from $60 to $1,200 and include 1-, 2- or 3-year subscriptions along with extras including “challenge coins” of “elite” hats, medals, watches, and rocks glasses. The service is also pledging to donate $5 to Folds of Honor for any customers who sign up for Fox Nation on Veterans Day.
Fox Nation is being positioned as an offering for “superfans,” and will be competing with other streaming news services such as CBSN, ABC News Live, and the soon-to-launched NBC News streaming news network, Signal.
Fox Nation hosts include The Five co-host and Watters World host, Jesse Watters; First Thoughts & Final Thoughts host Tomi Lahren; Fox & Friends Weekend co-host Pete Hegseth; and Fox Nation’s Un-PC co-hosts Britt McHenry and Tyrus.
FOX News Channel – available through many live streaming services on Apple TV – will air a one-hour ‘sneak peek’ special, FOX Nation First Look on October 28 at 8:00 PM EDT showcasing the new services programming offerings. Viewers will then be able to subscribe early to the new service via the aforementioned ‘founding members’ program before its launch.
