HIDIVE brings anime simulcasts and exclusive content to Apple TV

Apple TV is a wonderful system for anime fans, as there’s no shortage of apps available to help you find and watch your favorite animated movies and shows from Japan. This week, that list got even better with the announcement of HIDIVE for tvOS.

Available for 4th gen Apple TV and later, the HIDIVE app will allow subscribers to enjoy their favorite anime on their Apple TV in 1080p. Those already subscribing to the mobile service can now start a show or movie on their iPhone, then stream it directly to their television without having to bother with AirPlay.

For those not familiar with HIDIVE, the service offers a huge catalog of streaming anime (with some Godzilla thrown in for good measure). Subscribers get access to exclusive dubbed content and simulcasts of the season’s hottest shows, all of which can be found and organized with pinned searches, queued searches, intuitive recommendations, and more. Viewers can also create three different profiles for family and friends, allowing multiple users to easily get to the content they want via simultaneous streams.

Specific to Apple TV users:

Features of HIDIVE’s new tvOS app include robust search capabilities powered by HIDIVE micro tagging, synced playlists (user favorites, continue watching and user queue), the ability to add-to-queue directly from the app, access to exclusive simulcast programming directly from Japan and DUBCAST editions of their favorite shows plus more.

The available content spans six decades of six decades of imported Japanese entertainment, from exclusive simulcasts such as Classicaloid 2 and Mitsuboshi Colors to hidden gems from the golden age of anime.

Those interested in checking out HIDIVE should do so quickly, as they’re currently running a special with which you can lock into a $3.99/month subscription for the next two years. After April 9th, the subscription rate will settle in at $4.99/month.
