Liberal Political Voices Network coming to Apple TV

Former Current TV President and former CNN Washington bureau chief David Bohrman is launching Political Voices Network in the first quarter of this year, a streaming video service targeting liberal news consumers. The service will be available on Apple TV at launch as an app with a $10 membership to live and custom content.

Bohrman and his team are in the process of raising between $3 million and $5 million to launch the network. The network will be both advertising and subscription-based.

The network plans to air more than 20 hours each day of live political news and insights with a limited staff of roughly 18 employees at its launch. On-air talent will include Stephanie Miller and Bill Press with other names yet to be announced.

Bohrman has brought together a handful of media industry executives to start the network including financial, technical and content experts from a number of other networks including CNN, Fox Sports, and ABC News.

It remains to be seen if the channel can be financially viable in an environment where partisan politics has been a difficult sell to advertisers.
