Redbox app update fixes sign-in crash
Back in late December we reported that the Redbox App had been updated to offer tvOS support. Unfortunately, it also came with a rather nasty bug that could prevent the app from launching on your Apple TV. That bug has now been resolved with the v6.1.1 update.
Specifically, if you had no titles in your Redbox On Demand library, the Redbox app would crash at launch. You’d think that would be a catch-22, but you actually don’t need to use the app add movies and shows to your library. On-demand movie and TV show purchases and rentals are handled at the Redbox website. You can then view your content via the Redbox app on your Apple TV (or iOS device, of course).
With the update, you can now launch the app regardless of whether any movies are in your library, allowing you to reserve movies and games for pickup at your nearest Redbox location, watch movie trailers, see what’s coming soon, and sign up for email notifications when movies on your watch list become available.
And, of course, is there anything more fun than reading viewer reviews?
Redbox is available now for free in the App Store.
