Redbox Apple TV app now live
Back in mid-December, we reported that Redbox had launched their Redbox On Demand streaming service. Known for their red DVD rental kiosks, Redbox On Demand shifted that functionality to digital rentals. Instead of a Netflix- or Amazon Prime-like monthly subscription to stream all the content you want, Redbox On Demand works more like iTunes; buy or rent the content you want on a download-by-download basis.
And now, with the release of the tvOS version on December 23rd, Apple TV users can stream that content directly to their television without having to bother with an iOS device and Airplay.
As we previously reported:
Customers can buy or rent movies and TV shows online ranging in price from $4.99 for a 48-hour rental to $9.99 for purchases. Library content starts at $1.99.
More than 6,000 movie and TV show titles are available for rental or purchase on the new service from Warner Bros., Paramount Pictures, Lionsgate, Sony Pictures Entertainment, 20th Century Fox and Universal Pictures studios.
Redox also allows users to watch trailers and search movies by name, release date, and genre. If there’s a movie or TV show you’re eager to see, you can sign up for email reminders on the day that content becomes available.
To get Redbox for tvOS, launch the App Store app on your Apple TV and search for Redbox. For more information, visit www.redbox.com.
