Showtime seeks new customers with $5 monthly deal
Showtime Networks and its Apple TV app are offering first-time subscribers to its streaming service an introductory price of $4.99 per month for the first three months. The offer started Wednesday and goes through September 3, the company has announced.
New Showtime streaming customers will pay the initial promo price for three months and then the regular $10.99 a month charge.
New customers can sign up on showtime.com or through the Showtime app on Apple TV. Consumers also can purchase a Showtime subscription through streaming services like Hulu, FuboTV, YouTube TV, DirecTV Now and PlayStation Vue.
The special pricing coincides with the debut of various Showtime programs including season nine of Shameless and the new half-hour comedy series Kidding, starring Jim Carrey.
CBS, the owners of the premium TV network, have not disclosed the number of subscribers it has to the service, but in February said the combined customer numbers of the subscriber service CBS All Access and Showtime had reached five million combined.
The Showtime app has been available through the Apple TV App Store since July of 2015.
