Sling TV launches personalized recommendations for Apple TV users
The live streaming network Sling TV debuted Thursday the first of many personalization features on Apple TV to improve Sling TV’s experience and make the browsing experience easier. The new features are a tvOS-exclusive until they are released for other streaming platforms in the near future.
Select Apple TV users will now see a new ‘Recommended for You’ ribbon on the ‘My TV’ screen. ‘Recommended for You’ will suggest live and on-demand shows, movies, news and sports to make it easier to find relevant content, based on the user’s viewing habits.
Recommendations employ any parental controls set up on the account, ensuring locked content isn’t accessible without a PIN.
The company said the ‘Recommended for You’ ribbon is just the beginning of more personalization updates yet to come. “We’re working to improve personalization in the app and create a more engaging and interesting viewing experience, so you can expect Sling to debut more helpful features,” a company statement said. “In the coming months, we’ll be improving content recommendations and will have additional new features to make your browsing experience even easier.”
The Sling TV app is available for download from the Apple TV App Store. The service has been available on Apple TV since June of 2016 and currently starts at $25.00 a month with a 7-day trial.
