Storm Boy gets Apple TV app ahead of theatrical release
This January, Ambience Entertainment will be releasing the second theatrical version of Colin Thiele’s best-selling children’s book Storm Boy. Fans of the Australian classic don’t need to wait until then to re-experience the book. They can do so now with Storm Boy: The Game for iOS and Apple TV.
For those unfamiliar with the book, Storm Boys takes place on the beaches of South Australia where a young boy rescues three baby pelicans whose mother has been shot. He raises and releases the pelicans, only to have his favorite—Mr. Percival—return.
The Storm Boy app is an interactive retelling that allows the player to take control of both Storm Boy and Mr. Percival in key moments from the book, such as when they rescue stranded sailors during a storm. Players will also engage in mini-activities such as sand drawing, sailing, cockle hunting, playing fetch, sand surfing, and pelican feeding.
Developed by Blowfish Studios, Storm Boy is available now for $2.99 in the App Store. For more information, visit blowfishstudios.com.
