Three fun Apple TV Christmas screensavers
Whether you’re opening presents, entertaining guests or just settling down for a long winter’s nap, loading up a Christmas screensaver on your Apple TV is a great way to create some festive ambiance. Whether you’re looking for the best Christmas screensavers, Christmas lights apps, snowfall screensavers or fireplace simulators, there are plenty of quality options available.
For 2018, we’ve rounded up a few more for you. These Christmas screensavers for Apple TV are either new or have received significant updates since their initial release, and are ready to make your holidays merry and bright.
Christmas Ambience HD
Developer: Richard Foster
The screensavers in this collection forgo realism for a more illustrative approach, like the kind you’d find in a Christmas storybook. With animated scenes that run from antique toys under the tree to idyllic outdoor scenes that somehow seem to cross Currier and Ives with Dr. Seuss, you’ll find something to light up the room.
Originally released in 2017, Christmas Ambience HD was updated this year with improved video. It also includes sound effects and music to help set the mood. At only $0.99, it’s worth checking out and adding to your rotation.
Tinsel & Tunes Yule Log
Developer: Jesse McKeehan
This app is actually more about the tunes than the log, but it works either way. Tinsel & Tunes is a Christmas radio station that broadcasts rock, pop, jazz, classical and classic Christmas music during November and December only. This app taps into the feed and gives you a cozy fire to watch as you listen.
Tinsel & Tunes Yule Log comes with plenty of handy features, including the ability to pause the music and the option to turn it off to view the fireplace with just the audio effects. Check it out now in the App Store. If you like it, you can get it on your iPhone, too.
Developer: Digital Media Hub GmbH
Don’t be frightened by the title. This “German Christmas Radio” app plays “All the festive hits from Europe and America”—not just O Tannenbaum and Stille Nacht—so you’re sure to be on familiar ground. Choose from easily identifiable categories such as Klassiker, Kinder, and 80er, pull up the gorgeous woodland scene and let the merriment begin.
Now with a total of nine channels of music from which to pick, you’re bound to find something that fits your holiday mood. And if you grab the iOS version, you’ll get some nice snowglobe effects, too. Das Weihnachtsradio is available now for free in the App Store.
