UKs Now TV testing upgraded Apple TV app
The UK video streaming service Now TV is testing a new version of its Apple TV app that better conforms with the look and feel of tvOS.
Some BESTAppleTV readers in Great Britain have been contacted by email to be part of the testing phase. Those with knowledge of the beta report new features missing in the current version include Siri support, the capability to search content, and a new, updated look and feel to the user interface. Support for the TV app to find content on Now TV is not supported, but may or may not be part of a final rollout.
It is the first time the app has been updated since its original release.
Now TV is a contract-free subscription-based service with operations in the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Italy. It essentially is the equivalent of the Sky satellite TV service, but in a streaming service broken down into ‘Now TV passes’. The majority of the services available by Now TV are designed to cater for consumers who do not want to be tied to a contract.
Now TV Passes are content in four bundles – the Entertainment Pass, Sky Cinema Pass, Sky Sports Pass, and a Kids Pass. The passes are priced at between £3.99 and £33.99 a month, with the sports pass being the most expensive. Sky Sports will broadcast over 120 Premier League games beginning with the upcoming season.
