What’s new for Apple TV, March 21st, 2019

The first new Apple TV update of spring has plenty of content to inspire you to get outside. There are streaming media channels for golfers, runners, horse-lovers, and fans of sneakers in general. Or, you could just stay inside and learn jazz guitar. Up to you.

We’ve also got two baseball app updates: one involving professional and the other involving a crab. The choice is yours.

Prices provided below are accurate at press time. Free downloads are for the app only and may require a subscription or in-app purchases for full functionality.

New Apple TV Apps:

  • HighballTV (free) – Brings the film festival experience direct to your Apple TV. Subscribe for full access or rent specific movies.
  • snkrINC (free) – A video-first, sneaker culture media brand that tells the stories “…of the people who are passionately living lives of meaning and impact all through the lens of the shoes on their feet.” Not literally.
  • USGA (free) – Access the USGA’s exclusive programming, including the critically acclaimed “USGA Golf Journal” series and live streams of the U.S. Open, U.S. Women’s Open, U.S. Senior Open, U.S. Women’s Amateur, and U.S. Amateur.
  • The Plaid Horse Network (free) – Livestreamed and produced equestrian content from all disciplines, breeds, and competitions. So, not just plaid.
  • Triathlon Live (free) – “… your go-to place for all things Triathlon.” Offers live and on-demand racingm, behind-the-scenes exclusives, and archive footage going back to the first ITU World Championships in 1989.
  • Barry Greene Video Lessons (free) – Hundreds of hours of online jazz guitar lessons from renowned Jazz Guitarist Barry Greene.

Updated Apple TV Apps:

  • DirecTV Now (free) – It’s only performance enhancements and bug fixes. I just thought it’d be funny to include it this week, all things considered.
  • MLB at Bat (free) – Opening day is just ahead, and the app has been updated accordingly. Users can now sync their favorite hometown radio broadcast with the video stream (where available).
  • Mr. Crab Baseball (free) – That’s Mr. Crab, not Mr. Krabs. This guy may not have the name recognition, but he was created exclusively for Apple TV.
  • Pluto TV – Live TV & Movies (free) – Now available internationally with a lot of ads.
