YouTubeTV confirms poor streaming issues on Apple TV; vows fix to come

BESTAppleTV has duplicated and confirmed issues of poor streaming quality with the live streaming service YouTubeTV on Apple TV 4K and non-4K models. The issues have been reported by customers since last Thursday.

YouTube TV has acknowledged the issue and has said that they are working to fix the issues, but can’t say when a solution will be ready.

“Our engineers are working hard on a fix, but don’t have an exact ETA yet,” a tweet from TeamYouTube read on Twitter Wednesday, “Appreciate your patience in the meantime.”

Various online posts report video quality is down to 240p on multiple channels. Some YouTube TV users on Apple TV units are not experiencing the issue, leading some to wonder if it is related to “regional servers”. It is not known specifically how many customers using the device are impacted.

BESTAppleTV has duplicated the issue reported on two different Apple TV 4K models working on the same IP, but not on another with a different IP address.

Reddit user RedRocker55 posted an email from YouTube TV support asking specific questions about the type of programming affected…

“What are the video qualities of the shows that are affected? (144p, 240p, 360p, 480p, 720p, 1080p) What happened when you try to adjust the quality to a lower or a higher setting? Is there a specific channel or video that is affected? A particular type of programming (live TV or recordings, for example)? Does this happen on other devices such as mobile and laptop/computer?”

A YouTube TV spokesperson was not immediately available for comment to this story,
